Rock Hill, SC – The Winthrop volleyball team travels to Atlanta, GA for the Hyatt Regency Invitational Tournament hosted by Georgia Tech. This will be the first tournament of the 2018 season and the first matches under the helm of new head coach
Chuck Rey. The Eagles will play four matches in the two-day tournament.

Last season the Eagles finished 18-14 overall and 8-8 in conference play and are returning 11 players from last year's roster, six of which saw significant playing time. Of those returners is
Siani Yamaguchi, a junior setter who was placed on the Big South Conference All-Tournament Team in 2017 and senior libero
Carlie Skelton who has led the Eagles in digs for the past three seasons. They were chosen to finish fifth in the 2018 Big South Conference preseason polls.
Abilene Christian finished the 2017 season with a 13-18 overall record and were also picked to finish 5
th in the Southland Conference preseason polls for the 2018 season. They also return 6 players from last year's roster.
Georgia Tech also finished with a 13-18 2017 record and are only returning two starters from the 2017 season.
Idaho State University was picked to finish seventh in the Big Sky Conference for the 2018 season and finished with an 11-19 overall record in 2017.
Georgetown struggled in conference and preseason play last season, finishing 2-16 in conference play and with an overall record of 8-22.
