Lacrosse's Season Ends Sunday With 18-7 Loss To High Point In Big South Championship

HIGH POINT, NC – The Winthrop lacrosse team met a tough High Point Panther squad in the Big South Championship Sunday afternoon and fell 18-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED
High Point (17-2) netted the first goal of the game 2:28 in the contest and the Eagles responded with a tally from Katherine Judge less than two minutes later.  The Panthers picked up two quick tallies that started a string of five straight goals to give High Point a 6-1 lead with 9:03 remaining in the half.

The Eagles (14-6) were able to get some scoring going over the final eight minutes as Judge, Nicole Beatson and Katie Clark each recorded a goal.  Winthrop was matched one-for-one on those goals and the Panthers took a 9-4 lead into the break.

The two sides again traded the first two goals of the second half with Winthrop's tally coming from Kristen Shriver.  The Panthers then rattled off seven straight goals to take a 17-5 advantage.  The Eagles found the back of the net twice more over the final 11 minutes as Shriver along with Lauren Morris added goals.
