BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Winthrop baseball (23-27, 14-10 Big South Conference) was held to just two hits in a 5-0 loss to league-leading Campbell (29-21, 19-5 Big South Conference) in the series finale rubber game Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Winthrop started off the 1st with baserunners, with Mitch Spires getting on due to hit-by-pitch and a Tyler Halstead single advancing him to second, but a groundout would end the scoring threat.

-Scout McFalls recorded the Eagles' second and only other hit of the afternoon in the 3rd, a double to left center, and he would move to third on a ground out, but the Eagles were unable to get the run home.

-Starting right-hander Daniel Willcutt sat down the Camels in order in each of the first three innings.

-In the bottom of the 4th, the Camels got on the board with a pair of singles, a balk and an RBI double for a 2-0 lead.

-The Eagles went down in order in the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th innings, failing to get another baserunner on.

-Campbell added a solo homer in the 6th and a groundout RBI in the 7th for a 4-0 lead that would bring Jason Crumley to the mound in relief.
