Nicole Beatson broke the Big South single-season goals and points records Saturday as the Winthrop lacrosse team cruised to a 22-6 victory over the Longwood Lancers in the quarterfinals of the Big South Tournament.

The Eagles improve to 13-5 on the year, advancing to the semifinals where they will face the Liberty Flames Friday at 7 p.m. at High Point's Vert Stadium.

RECORD-BREAKING PERFORMANCE
Coming into Saturday's tilt, Beatson needed only one point and four goals to break the respective marks. Beatson earned her first point on the afternoon on her first goal of the game with 22:40 left in the first half. She didn't wait long to break the goal record, scoring three more times in less than seven minutes, recording the record-setting goal with 15:51 on the clock.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Longwood jumped on the board early, scoring less than 90 seconds into the contest.Â
Allie Yeager tied the game only 36 seconds later but the Lancers responded, going back up by one.

Beatson and
McKenna Blick then helped the Eagles grab control of the contest, combining for the next six goals. The four tallies from Beatson and two from Blick put Winthrop up 7-2 with 10:57 left in the half.

After Longwood pulled one goal back, the Eagles outscored the Lancers 7-1 over the final 10 minutes of the half to take a commanding 14-4 lead into the break.

Winthrop continued its scoring barrage after the break, netting four goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Longwood managed to find the back of the net twice in the second half but the Eagles outscored the Lancers 8-2 for the 22-6 victory.Â

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Beatson's record-breaking day was part of an eight-point performance as she finished with seven goals and one assist.Â
Kristen Shriver totaled eight points on the afternoon with six assists to go along with her two goals. Â

Freshman
McKenna Blick had her best game of the season, scoring four goals.Â
Katie Clark totaled three goals while
Katherine Judge and
Bianca Tedesco each scored twice. Judge also added six draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.Â
Emily Delauter led the team, forcing four turnovers.Â
Alaina Girani finished with seven saves, five ground balls and three caused turnovers.Â

The Eagles outshot the Lancers 35-20, placing 29 of their shots on target. Longwood edged Winthrop on the draw 17-13.
