Lacrosse Looks To Continue Winning Ways In Road Test At Liberty Saturday

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop lacrosse team heads into the final stretch of conference play Saturday afternoon as the Eagles head to Lynchburg, VA to face the Liberty Flames at 3 p.m.

EAGLES AT A GLANCE
Winthrop avenged two losses to the Campbell Camels last season with a solid 16-9 victory at home Wednesday afternoon.  Katherine Judge led the charge offensively with five goals while Kristen Shriver recorded six points on three goals and three assists.  Alaina Girani made nine saves in the victory.
 
Multiple Eagles continue to be ranked highly in statistical categories in both the Big South and the NCAA.  Beatson leads the Big South and the NCAA in goals (62) and goals per game (4.33).  Shriver is second in the NCAA in total assists (40) and fourth in assists per game (2.86).  Katherine Judge leads the Big South in draw controls per game (7.36) and ranks fifth in the NCAA.  As a team, Winthrop leads the Big South in draw controls per game (15.00).
 
SCOUTING LIBERTY
Liberty enters Saturday's matchup only a game back of the Eagles in the Big South standings at 3-1.  The Flames are 10-4 overall on the season.  The lone loss for the Flames in the conference was at the hands of High Point.
 
Brianna McCaffrey leads Liberty with 33 goals on the season and is followed closely by Michaela Rich with 27.  Kayla Foster leads the team in points with 49 on 18 goals and 31 assists.  The Flames have almost evenly split time in goal between their two netminders.  Katherine Widrick has a 3-1 record, allowing just shy of seven goals per game.  Aubrie Tarris has a 7-3 mark, allowing almost 12 goals per contest. 
 
ALL-TIME AGAINST LIBERTY
The Eagles have won five straight against the Flames and hold a 5-1 all-time record over Liberty.  The lone loss for Winthrop came in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
 
WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop will host its final regular season contest on Wednesday night against the High Point Panthers.  The Eagles and Panthers will have the opening draw at 7 p.m.  Depending on Saturday results, the matchup could determine the regular-season champion and host of the Big South Tournament.
