COACHES QUOTE
Head Coach Mark Cooke~
"Thought we played the #11 team in the country a good ballgame except for one inning. We made a couple of mistakes and you don't do that against good teams. I was very happy with the way our team competed and I thought Kiley threw a good ballgame."

WHAT HAPPENED
  • South Carolina was on the board first in the second inning as Cayla Drotar led off the inning with a line shot over the fence in left center
  • Eagles tried to answer back immediately in the bottom half of the second as they loaded the bases
  • Keleigh Romine drew a leadoff walk and then singles by Tori Walker and Shayna Covington loaded the bases with two outs for Ashley Westbrooks
  • Westbrooks nearly singled in the at-bat as her shot down the right field line went foul by about a foot
  • Then Westbrooks tried to poke a 2-2 pitch to right center, but Tiara Duffy robbed her of the base hit with a nice diving catch to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard
  • South Carolina went up 2-0 in the third when Alyssa VanDerveer hit a solo homerun to right center
  • The Gamecocks posted five runs on five hits in the fifth to open up the game

EXTRA BASES
  • The Eagles were 1-for-3 with runners in scoring position while the Gamecocks were 4-for-5
  • Kamryn Culp made her first collegiate start for the Eagles as she started and played second base
