COACHES QUOTE
Head Coach Mark Cooke~
"We did the things we needed to do in order to win except we couldn't field ground balls and that cost us. It's a tough loss but we'll have to recover and get ready for next week."

WHAT HAPPENED
Game 1
  • For the second straight game in the series Campbell took the lead in the first inning
  • With two outs, Caroline Smith hit a fly ball to shallow right that was knocked down by the wind as Shayna Covington sprinted in to try and make the catch but couldn't come up with it and deflected it toward first base
  • That allowed Smith to turn the single into a double as she hustled around first
  • Megan Mozingo followed with a shot to right that was misplayed by Covington as it fell in for a single but she overran the ball after trying to field it and Mozingo moved to second while Smith came around to score
  • Bri Bryant then laced a shot to left center that went off the end of the glove of Morgan Lowers as she laid out to try and haul it in as the Camels led 2-0
  • Sabrina Shroades (2-3) struck out a career-high 11 batters as she tossed a complete game of six innings allowing the two runs (one earned) on three hits and issuing just one walk
  • Shroades struck out the last four batters of the game and caught them all looking
  • Haley Hutchins tossed her first complete game and shutout for the Camels as she allowed just two hits with two walks and two strikeouts in seven innings to improve to 2-3

Game 2
  • Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first
  • Ashley Westbrooks led off the game with a walk followed by a Lowers single to put two on
  • Ansley Gilreath moved the runners over with a sacrifice bunt
  • Westbrooks came around to score on a passed ball for a1-0 lead and Lowers moved to third
  • After Romine walked and stole second, Kiley Majette singled to right, scoring Lowers and Romine for a 3-0 lead
  • Majette cruised through the first four innings but ran into trouble in the fifth inning
  • A couple of singles by the Camels followed by a fielding error on a grounder to second loaded the bases with one out
  • Smith made it a one-run game as she hit a looping single to left that scored two
  • With two outs in the bottom of the 5th Bryant hit a shot to first base right at Gilreath as she reached up but the ball popped off the top of the glove and bounced out for the infield single to load the bases again
  • Majette was able to get a grounder to third base as Blake Wallert applied the tag for a force out at third for the final out, ending the threat
  • Campbell scored three runs in the bottom of the 6th inning as Rachel McCullum hit a three-run homerun with two outs for a 5-2 lead

EXTRA BASES
  • Lowers singled in the sixth inning of the first game of the doubleheader to extend her hitting streak to 10 games and then tied her career-high of 11 straight games with a hit as she singled in the top of the first in game two
  • Keleigh Romine walked in both games to extend her streak of reaching base to eight straight games
  • In the bottom of the second the Camels got a soft single from McCurry followed by a long single from Wancheck as her fly ball hit off the base of the wall in left
  • Majette got back-to-back ground outs to end the threat and the inning
  • In the top of the fourth after Majette singled to leadoff, Madyson Watson hammered one to center but a tough catch by Mozingo in center likely saved a run or at least runners at second and third with no outs
  • With her two-run single in the first, Majette now has an RBI in three of the last four games
