LAST OUTING AGAINST LONGWOOD
The Eagles hosted Longwood January 30 and picked up one of its two conference victories of the season. Winthrop won in thrilling fashion as
Noell Kellers converted a four-point play, knocking down a three-pointer and hitting the subsequent free throw with only 20 seconds left to send the game into overtime. The Eagles were solid on their free throws in overtime to secure the 69-60 victory.
SCOUTING LONGWOOD
Longwood comes into Saturday's contest having alternated wins and losses over its last six games. The Lancers fell Tuesday night 73-36 to the Liberty Flames.
Senior Autumn Childress has led the team with 10.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest this season but did not play in the first meeting between the Eagles and Lancers.
ALL-TIME AGAINST LONGWOOD
Saturday will be the 21
st all-time meeting between the Eagles and Lancers and the series is even at 10-10. The two teams split the season series last year which accounted for the only conference win of the year for both programs.
WHAT'S UP NEXT
The Eagles will head into the conference tournament after Saturday's matchup. Winthrop is already locked into the 10
th seed in the tournament and will play at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 8. The entire tournament will be hosted by Liberty. Winthrop's opponent will be determined based on results from Saturday.
