OXFORD, Miss. – Winthrop baseball fell in its season opener to No. 9 Ole Miss 7-3 Friday evening, just the first season-opening loss for the Eagles in six years.
On a chilly night in Mississippi, Winthrop could not find hot bats against Rebels ace Ryan Rolison (1-0). The preseason All-American recorded 12 strikeouts in 5.0 innings of work, allowing just one hit.
