HOME OPENER: Men's Hoops Opens Home Slate Tuesday Looking For 2nd Straight Win

ROCK HILL, SC— Looking for a second straight win, the Winthrop men's basketball team will host Pfeiffer Tuesday night in its home opener at the Winthrop Coliseum.

  • The Cougars are coached by first-year head coach Peter Schoch
  • The Falcons opened the season with a 113-73 victory over Bob Jones
  • Senior Kyle Riddley scored a game-high 35 points as he was one of just three players in double-figures in the win
  • Pfeiffer hit 23 three-pointers in the game as it was 23-for-48 (48%)
  • Riddley was 7-for-8 from three to lead the barrage from long range
 
CLIMBING THE RECORD BOOKS
  • Bjorn Broman now has 165 career threes and is tied for 9th all-time in program history
  • Broman is just outside the Top 10 all-time in career three-point field goal percentage at .366 (LaShawn Coulter is 10th at .373)

Every Thursday at The Roasting Company throughout the basketball season will be the Winthrop Sports Show at ROCO hosted by the voices of the Winthrop Eagles Dave Friedman and Mike Pacheco. The two will sit down weekly with head coaches Pat Kelsey and Lynette Woodard as well as other selected guests throughout the season. The show is from 6-6:30 p.m. and airs live on 94.3 FM & 104.1 The Bridge.
