EAGLES AT A GLANCE
Winthrop is coming off a tough home loss on Saturday to the High Point Panthers. The Eagles were led by Emily Kelly's 15 points as she shot a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range.
Ronata Rogers added 10 points and five rebounds in the loss. The smothering defense of High Point forced 16 of Winthrop's 24 turnovers Saturday which led to 30 points for the Panthers.
Kelley's performance Saturday snapped a string of three straight games where she failed to reach double-figure scoring. Winthrop also got some quality minutes off the bench from
Kayla Atkins who led the team in rebounding with seven boards and added six points.
SCOUTING CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
Charleston Southern is coming off a home overtime loss to the Radford Highlanders Saturday afternoon. The Buccaneers fell 61-56. Charleston Southern is 6-9 overall this year and 1-3 in the Big South but they have been in contention in all three losses. The team's lone conference victory came at home against Longwood.
The Buccaneers have been led this year by five juniors who are all averaging eight points or more per game. Njeri Nelms leads the team with 10.1 points per game while Wekenye Dumorne leads the team with 6.6 rebounds per contest. The Bucs have scored 62.7 points per game this season while allowing 58.7.
ALL-TIME AGAINST CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
Tuesday will be the 81
st all-time meeting between the Eagles and Bucs. Winthrop leads the all-time series 47-33 but Charleston Southern has won the last four meetings. The Eagles' last victory came at home on January 31, 2015.
