Women's Soccer Hosts Liberty Saturday at 1 p.m. at Eagle Field

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop women's soccer team will be looking for its first conference victory of the season Saturday afternoon as they host the Liberty Flames at 1 p.m.

EAGLES AT A GLANCE
Winthrop suffered a 2-0 loss to Longwood Wednesday night but had a strong performance in goal from freshman Ashlynn Harris who made her collegiate debut.  Harris totaled nine saves on the evening to keep the Eagles in the contest until the Lancers broke through in the 78th minute.

SCOUTING LIBERTY
Liberty enters Saturday's matchup with a 3-5-3 overall record and a 1-0-1 mark in the Big South.  The Flames are coming off a scoreless draw against High Point Wednesday evening and defeated Gardner-Webb 1-0 in the conference opener. 

Devon Jones leads Liberty with six points on two goals and two assists so far this season.  Isabella Habuda has totaled five points on one goal and three assists.  Melody Jayroe has started and played every minute in goal for the Flames the last seven games after not seeing any time over the first four contests.  She has allowed less than one goal per game while saving 79 percent of the shots against her. 

SERIES HISTORY
The Eagles and Flames have met 16 times previously and the series record is even at 7-7-2.  Liberty has won the last three contests with Winthrop's last victory coming in 2013.  Eight of the 16 all-time contests have gone to overtime between these two sides and the team's played a string of six straight overtime contests from 2007-2011.

COMING UP NEXT
The Eagles will hit the road for their next conference contest.  Winthrop heads to Boiling Springs, NC for a 7 p.m. contest against Gardner-Webb on Wednesday.
