ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop volleyball team will be part of the Bulldogs Invitational this weekend as it travels to Charleston, SC to take on Jacksonville State, Alabama A&M, and The Citadel.

SCOUTING JACKSONVILLE STATE
The Gamecocks are 10-3 on the season while being on a six game winning streak. They went 2-1 in the Western Carolina Invitational tournament to start the season off. At the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic they went 2-2. Jacksonville State also played Alcorn State and Jackson State and won both of those games. They were part of the Jefferson's & State Farm Invitational at Jax State where they won them all and went 4-0. This will be the third time both teams will face each other while being tied 1-1 and they last game went to Jacksonville State back in 2002 with a 3-1 win.
SCOUTING ALABAMA A&M
The Bulldogs are 0-7 on the season after only winning one set on the season. They were part of the SWAC/MEAC Tournament where they went 0-2. They went on the road to play Mercer University twice and lost both. Alabama A&M went to Charleston, IL and was part of the EIU Panther Invite where they lost all three games. This will be the first time Winthrop and Alabama A&M will face each other.
SCOUTING THE CITADEL
The Bulldogs are 2-9 on the season and Winthrop already beat them last went in the ECU Classic 3-1. In that tournament the Citadel went 0-4. The Bulldogs went 1-2 in the Hampton Inn-Holly Springs Invitational. They also went 1-3 in the Pentagon Tournament. Winthrop and the Citadel will be facing for the fifth time this weekend with Winthrop holding a 4-0 lead where they won their last match on September 8, 2017, 3-1.
WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop is finally home after being on the road 12 of their first 13 games to start the season as they will face Radford on Tuesday, September 19 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Winthrop Coliseum.
