Women's Soccer Hits The Road For Friday Contest At Coastal Carolina

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop women's soccer team hits the road Friday to face former conference foe Coastal Carolina in a 5 p.m. matchup.

EARLY GOAL DOWNS EAGLES
Winthrop is coming off a tough 1-0 loss to North Florida at home on Sunday.  The Ospreys netted the game-winner in the fifth minute and despite holding North Florida to only four shots in the second half, the Eagles couldn't find the tying goal.

SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA
The Chanticleers have gotten off to a strong start this season, going 3-1 through four matches with their only loss coming to nationally-ranked NC State.  Coastal downed Charleston Southern 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Daniella Famili leads Coastal with nine points on four goals and one assist.  Brooke Horist has also added two goals this season.  Rylee Atteberry has played all but five minutes this season and has allowed only four goals while shutting out her opponents in two contests.

SERIES HISTORY
The Eagles and Chanticleers have met 17 times previously with Coastal Carolina holding an 8-7-2 advantage over Winthrop.  The Eagles have not beaten the Chanticleers since 2013.

WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop will remain on the road for its next contest as it heads to Orangeburg, SC on September 7 for a 7 p.m. contest against South Carolina State.
