Final Results
DAYTONA BEACH, FL–The Winthrop women's golf team finished fifth out of 12 schools at the 36-hole Lady EagleCat Invitational that ended on Saturday at the LPGA International Course.
Winthrop shot a final score of 617 (309-308) over the Par 72, 5,952-yard layout. Boston College captured the team championship with a 6-over Par total of 582 (292-290) while BC's Lois Kaye Go claimed medalist honors with a 3-under 141 (72-69) to win by two shots.
The Eagles were led by a pair of sophomores.
Chelsea Dantonio (Lancaster, NY), who tied for 10
th after finishing at 151 (77-74).
Julie Reinertsen (Oslo, Norway) was one shot behind Dantonio and tied for 15
th place at 152 (74-78). Juniors
Louise Jeppesen (Helsingborg, Sweden) tied for 21
st with 157 (79-78) and
Ashley Sloup shot 158 (79-79) to finish in a tie for 27
th place. Rounding out the Winthrop performances was a 37
th place finish by
Chandler Case (Rock Hill, SC) who shot 161 (83-78).
Winthrop also had two other players compete as individuals. Sophomore
Morgan McClaugherty (Harlingen, TX) tied for 21
st after shooting 156 (79-77) and freshman
Whitney Carter (Rock Hill, SC) tied for 32
nd with a 160 (81-79).
Next up for Winthrop will be the John Kirk Panther Challenge, March 26-28, in Stockbridge, GA.
