THE GAME
- Winthrop dropped its season opener against Southern Illinois (81-66) as it looks to bounce back
- Colorado opened the season with a 72-61 home win over Sacramento State
- This will be the first time the Eagles have played in the state of Colorado since the 2008 NCAA Tournament as they took on Washington State at the Pepsi Center in Denver
- Winthrop is 14-25 all-time in their opening road game of the season, but have won the last three
- The first time the Eagles played in Colorado was Jan. 3, 1987 at Air Force
WINTHROP
- Xavier Cooks led the Eagles in scoring in the opener with 14 as he also tied for a team-best eight rebounds
- Cooks did not attempt a three-point shot for the first time in the last 49 games
- The Eagles were just 7-for-23 (30.4%) in the second half against Southern Illinois
- Winthrop went to the line 27 times, but finished 18-for-27

- Nico Carvacho pulled down 15 rebounds in the game while Bob Che had 10
- The Rams have started 2-0 in four of the past five seasons
