Game Recap
  • The first 19 minutes didn't see much action or many scoring chances by either team
  • High Point broke through in the 20th minute, taking advantage of a turnover by the Eagles
  • On a pass backward near midfield, Francesco Tiozzo slipped as Bolanos ran on and stole the ball away and sprinted toward goal as he outran everyone and finished a one-on-one
  • In the 25th minute it was Bolanos again as he was in the right place at the right time as a cross was back heeled by Siggy Benonysson toward the spot as Bolanos ran on and struck a shot first time
  • Bolanos completed his hat trick in the 32nd minute off a free kick as he made a run at the back post and hammered a shot across the goal mouth from a tough angle and into the left corner of the goal
  • Max Hasenstab nearly got the Eagles on the scoreboard in the 40th minute when he ripped a free kick over the wall into the top left corner, but Keegan Meyer made a fully extended diving save and out for a Winthrop corner kick
  • Bolanos scored his 4th goal of the match in the 62nd minute when he was left wide open in the box off a corner and headed home the service
  • In the 75th minute Jacob Jacobsen stole the ball about 30 yards out and fed Nil Vinyals at the top of the box, who hit a shot but it was blocked
  • Jacobsen struck the ball first time off the blocked shot and the shot hit the underside of the crossbar, but it bounced back out in front as Brandon Anselmo ran on and hit a shot first time that was headed toward an open goal that hit a defender and out for a corner

Notables
  • Miles Rapp returned to the Eagle lineup for the first time since Sept. 16 at Georgia State as he made his 4th start of the year
  • The previous four meetings between Winthrop and High Point had gone to double-overtime
  • This was the first meeting decided by more than a goal six seasons (Oct. 1, 2011 when HPU won 6-0)
