Rock Hill, SC – The Winthrop women's soccer team will open Big South Conference play against Radford Saturday at 1 p.m. on Eagle Field where it has won two of five games thus far on the season.

The Eagles enter the game with a 3-5 overall record after dropping a 1-0 decision at Kennesaw State last Sunday. Radford is 2-4 this season and is still looking for its first road win as they are 0-3 away from home. The Highlanders lost to College of Charleston last Sunday.
Head coach Spencer Smith, the former men's coach at Radford, is 4-2 in Big South openers since he arrived at Winthrop. In the all-time series, Radford has a 6-5-3 against the Eagles.
With the non-conference portion of the schedule behind them, the Eagles have been led by freshman Keeley Leising with three goals. A trio of other players—Greta Conboy, Briana Palmer, and Lauren Watts—have two goals each. As a team Winthrop has totaled 10 goals and allowed 13. The primary goalkeeper this season has been Karly Gustafson, who has two shutouts, 27 saves, and a 1.69 goals against average.
