ROCK HILL, SC— Winthrop women's soccer team will be looking for its first win of the season when the Eagles travel to USC Upstate Tuesday to face the Spartans in County University Stadium at 7 p.m.
Winthrop is looking to improve its record to 2-0 all-time against USC Upstate. The Eagles have held the Spartans scoreless in the two previous games by winning by a combined score of 10-0, which includes last year's 3-0 exhibition victory. The last time the Eagles traveled to County University Stadium they came out with a victory of 1-0.
The Eagles enter the game with a 0-1 record after falling to Western Carolina 3-1 in last Sunday's home opener. Transfer
Jil White scored the first goal as an Eagle for the Eagles in Sunday's game.
USC Upstate also lost its opener last Friday to start off 0-1. The Spartans finished last season with a record of 3-13-2 while finishing 1-5-1 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Winthrop's 3-0 victory last season included a goal by
Samantha Prytulak in the 27th minute and ending with a goal by
JoJo Taylor late in the second half. Both players return this season for coach
Spencer Smith.
