CLINTON, SC—Winthrop softball suffered a 4-1 loss at Presbyterian College, Wednesday afternoon in a midweek Big South Conference matchup.
Winthrop falls to 14-35 on the year and 4-14 in the Big South while PC improves to 22-22 overall and 8-10 in the league. Winthrop will be back in action this weekend when it heads to Buies Creek, NC for a three-game series with Campbell beginning with a single game on Friday, Apr. 22 at 6 p.m.

Kiley Majette pitched good enough to win, we just didn't hit the ball," said Winthrop co-head coach
Mark Cooke. "We didn't hit the ball like we're capable and when you don't hit it, it's hard to win. So we're going to regroup and get ready for Campbell."
With the game tied 1-1, PC scored the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth. Kersten Legacki walked to lead off the inning and was move to second on a sacrifice. After Kylie Young was hit by a pitch, Jenna Harris sacrificed both runners to second and third. Erin Ruff stepped up and delivered the clutch hit for the Blue Hose with a single up the middle, scoring Legacki. PC added insurance runs in the sixth with RBI singles from Kelsie Sanchez and Haley Lawton scored on a wild pitch.
The Blue Hose led 1-0 after an inning on a Hope Rogers solo home run when the Eagles immediately tied the game in the top of the second. With one out, three consecutive singles led to the only run of the game for Winthrop as
Paige Haley singled to the pitcher with runners at first and second.
Majette tossed five innings allowing four runs on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts as she suffered the loss in the circle.
Keleigh Romine tossed the final inning with a walk and a strikeout. Sydney Seigler tossed a complete game for PC allowing just one run on our hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
