Eagles Make Virginia Swing To Radford and Liberty This Weekend

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop volleyball team faces a tough road trip this weekend as the Eagles make a Virginia swing, taking on Radford and Liberty.

Winthrop will be looking to bounce back from two conference losses last weekend at home to Campbell and High Point.  The Eagles are currently 8-10 overall and 0-3 in the Big South.

Brianna Gray and Keaupono Fey continue to be offensive leaders for the Eagles as they are both averaging better than two kills per set.  Siani Yamaguchi has emerged as the team's primary setter, averaging more than seven assists per set.

Friday at 7 p.m., Winthrop will take on Radford who is 14-3 overall and a perfect 5-0 in the conference and unbeaten at home this year.  Maddie Palmer is the team's leader offensively, totaling 244 kills, averaging more than four kills per set.  Hayley Kleespies is the team's setter, averaging nearly 11 assists per set. 

Liberty enters Saturday's 2 p.m. contest with a 6-9 record overall and a 1-2 mark in the Big South.  The Flames are coming off a five-set victory over UNC Asheville last Friday.  Casey Goodwin leads Liberty with 133 kills this season.  Anna Willey and Hannah Morris have shared setter duties, both averaging more than 6.5 assists per set. 

Winthrop returns home for its final non-conference contest of the year on Wednesday, October 12 at 6 p.m. against the NC Central Eagles.
