Volleyball Travels to Campbell and High Point To Continue Conference Play This Weekend

ROCK HILL, SC – Coming off its first conference victory of the season, the Winthrop volleyball team will look to continue its momentum into road games this weekend at Campbell and High Point.

The Eagles topped Charleston Southern Tuesday evening in five sets to snap a nine-game Big South losing skid.  Winthrop now sits at 10-16 on the season with a 1-9 conference mark.

Winthrop will head to Buies Creek, NC Friday for a 7 p.m. contest against the Campbell Camels.  Campbell downed the Eagles in straight sets in late September.  Campbell is currently sitting in fifth place in the conference standings with a 6-4 Big South record and an 11-13 overall record.  The Camels are in the midst of a three-match winning streak.

Saturday the Eagles will face the Panthers of High Point University for a 4 p.m. contest.  Earlier this season High Point downed the Eagles in three sets.  The Panthers sit third in the Big South with a 7-3 conference record and a 16-7 record overall.  High Point has won its last two matches and will face Charleston Southern on Friday evening.

The two weekend matches are the start of four straight on the road for the Eagles as the season enters its final weeks.  Winthrop will continue on the road next Saturday, November 5 when the Eagles visit Charleston Southern.
