ROCK HILL SC
—The Winthrop men's golf team found itself in an early hole after the first two rounds of the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic in Duluth, GA and were never able to dig out as the Eagles finished 12th out of 13 schools in the 54-hole event.

Winthrop's final team score of 883 (297-294-292) would normally be good enough to put the Eagles in contention for a top finish, but the overall scores were extremely low as nine teams finished at even par or better.  Mississippi ran away with the team and individual titles as the Rebels set course records at the Berkeley Hills Country Club which played at 6,702 yards this week.  Ole Miss turned in a team score of 33 under par 831 (276-274-281) to better second place Lipscomb by 15 strokes.

The tournament medalist trophy was captured by Braden Thornberry of Ole Miss, who finished 18 under par at 198 (68-64-66).

Winthrop was led by senior Bradley Kauffman (Greenville, SC) who tied for 21st after shooting even par 216 (74-72-70).  Freshman Zak Butt (Summerville, SC) shot 1-over par 217 (70-72-75) to earn a tie for 28th place.  Sophomore Sawyer Mills (Easley, SC) tied for 58th at 225 (78-74-73), while senior Zach Seabolt shot 226 (76-76-74) and tied for 62nd place. Senior Christian Sease (Mount Pleasant, SC) tied for 78th after finishing at 240 (77-81-82).  Sophomore Michael McKee (Ware Shoals, SC), who played as an individual, shot 230 (79-74-77) to finish in a tie for 72nd place.

Winthrop will close out its fall season in two weeks when it plays in the Kiawah Classic (Oct. 30-Nov. 1).
