Box Score STATESBORO, GA – Winthrop took home the Bash in the 'Boro tournament title Saturday morning with a 3-0 sweep of Tennessee State, finishing the weekend at 3-0.

Winthrop (3-7) started strong in the opening set, leading throughout.  The Eagles were able to quickly open a 10-point edge en route to taking the first set 25-17. 

Winthrop again had a strong start in the second set which allowed them to open a large lead.  The Eagles were able to consistently hold a 10-point edge, taking the second set 25-13.  Tennessee State played the third set much closer as the two teams were tied 11-11.  Following the tie the Eagles allowed only five more points, taking the third set 25-16 and the match 3-0.

Brianna Gray led the Eagles with 10 kills and also had seven blocks.  Emma Weakland finished with eight kills and four blocks.  Madilyn McCarty totaled 35 assists and also contributed five blocks.

The Eagles will close out their 11-match road swing to start the season on Tuesday when they head to Durham, NC to take on NC Central at 6 p.m.
