ROCK HILL, SC—Winthrop senior pitcher Sutton Watson has been named The Crons Brand Big South Pitcher of the Week.

Watson played a key role in the Eagles going 5-0 last week and extending their current win streak to six games. Watson was 4-0 with a 1.43 ERA as she tossed a team-high 14.2 innings on the week allowing just three earned runs and striking out eight. She earned a win in all three games of the Liberty series.
 
The first appearance for Watson last week on the week was the only time she allowed earned runs. She started the week earning a win in relief against PC as she tossed the final three innings as the Eagles rallied for six runs in the seventh to win the game. The rest of the week she allowed three unearned runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts in 11.2 innings.
 
One the season Watson is 9-6 with a 3.40 ERA, which ranks eighth in the Big South. This is her second career selection as the Big South Pitcher of the Week.
