ROCK HILL, SC—The Winthrop women's soccer team will continue their road trip when they travel to Conway, SC for their final regular season Big South Conference matchup against Coastal Carolina this Friday beginning at 6:00 pm at CCU Soccer Stadium.  The Chanticleers will be leaving the Big South at the conclusion of this year.

LAST MATCH
The Lady Eagles will enter this match off six days of rest as they did not have a match during the past week.  In their last outing, Winthrop dropped a 2-0 decision at High Point Oct. 3.  This was a tough match for the Lady Eagles as they were only able to get off three shots, one on goal. 

ABOUT OPPONENT

Coastal Carolina enters the match on a five match unbeaten streak.  After previously winning four straight games, the Chanticleers found themselves in a deadlock 0-0 2OT draw against High Point on Wednesday.  Coastal Carolina outshot the Panthers 21-14 in this match with their goalkeeper Becca Austin making four saves. 

 

COMMON OPPONENTS

Winthrop and Coastal Carolina share several common opponents on the season:  both teams dropped a decision to Charlotte; Coastal was able to defeat Georgia Southern 2-1 while the Lady Eagles lost 2-0; both squads defeated Gardner-Webb; Coastal defeated Longwood 2-1 while Winthrop drew 0-0 in 2OT; and the Lady Eagles fell 2-0 to High Point while the Chanticleers tied with them 0-0 this past week.

 

SERIES HISTORY

Winthrop leads in this series 7-6-2.  The Lady Eagles have tied the past two matches against the Chanticleers, 0-0 in 2013 and 1-1 in 2014.
