LAST WEEKEND

The Eagles had an up-and-down weekend last week, picking up a four-set victory over UNC Asheville on Friday before falling in five sets to Gardner-Webb on Saturday.  Freshman Lourdes Rosario continued her dominant offensive performances, posting two 20-kills outings.  She recorded a career-high 23 kills against UNC Asheville and followed that up with her fifth double-double of the season with 22 kills and 14 digs against Gardner-Webb.  Those performances earned her the Big South Freshman of the Week award.

ABOUT HIGH POINT

High Point comes into the weekend with a 13-7 overall record and a 3-1 mark in the conference.  The Panthers defeated Liberty and Radford last weekend at home, both in four sets.  Sophomore Haley Barnes leads High Point offensively with 250 kills, an average of 3.52 per set.  The Panthers use two setters in Gabi Mirand and Carly Jimenez.

ABOUT CAMPBELL

The Camels enter the weekend with a 6-12 record overall and a 1-4 mark in the Big South.  Campbell is coming off a mid-week conference victory over Charleston Southern, after having dropped their first four conference matches of the season.  Campbell has struggled offensively this season, hitting only .153 on the year.  The Camels are led by Rachel Harty and Katelyn Layden who have totaled 137 and 125 kills respectively.  Rebecca Ramirez has been the team's primary setter, averaging just over six assists per set.

SERIES HISTORIES

Against the Panthers, the Eagles hold an overall 36-14 record in the series.  High Point, however, has won the last three meetings with Winthrop's last victory coming in 2012.  Winthrop holds an overall 14-7 record over the Campbell Camels.

UP NEXT

Winthrop returns home for the first time in nearly a month next weekend to host conference foes Radford Friday and Liberty Saturday.
