ROCK HILL, SC- The Winthrop women's soccer team return from a six day break in its schedule to host Alabama A&M on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. This is the second meeting between the two teams with the Lady Eagles defeating the Lady Bulldogs 11-1 last season in Huntsville. The Lady Eagles are currently 1-2 on the year, while Alabama A&M are 0-4.
Senior
Krystyna Freda will attempt to become the Big South's all-time leading scorer, being just three goals behind the record of 53. Winthrop's offense is currently led by Freda in all offensive categories, while
Devin Puckett has also seen the back of the net twice this year. Sophomore
Caroline Duncan continues to gain starts in goal making 12 saves this season, while
Amelia Henderson works her way into getting more minutes.
The Lady Bulldogs have struggled so far this season, giving up 33 goals while failing to score a goal. Alabama A&M return all four of its goal scorers from last year, led by sophomore Estelle Esperance who netted nine goals during her freshman campaign. Junior Marissa Oehler has played all 360 minutes in the net for the Lady Bulldogs this year making 35 saves.
Frank Davies has been the head coach of the Lady Bulldogs since 1999, where he has led his team to two conference championships.
