ROCK HILL, SC- The Winthrop women's soccer team hopes to snap a two- game losing streak as they host High Point in a conference match-up on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m at Eagle Field. The two teams have met 12 times, with Winthrop having the edge in the overall series 5-4-3. Last season, Krysytna Freda scored two goals to push the Lady Eagles past the Panthers 2-1.
Winthrop (3-5, 0-2 Big South) is still looking for its first conference win of the year after it was shutout on the road against Longwood. The Lady Eagles' offense, headed by seniors
Krystyna Freda and
Devin Puckett continue to fall in the top 25 nationally in scoring offense (24
th) averaging 2.50 goals a game  as well as overall points (20
th) averaging 7.38 points per game. Winthrop's defense is also spearheaded by two seniors,
Ashley Herndon and
Amelia Henderson, with Henderson making 25 saves and earning a .71 save percentage this season.
High Point (3-2-3, 0-0-1 Big South) is also looking for its first conference win, tying its first match against Gardner-Webb 0-0 on Saturday. Senior Jackie Kessler has scored three times for the Panthers this season, while redshirt sophomore Kelsey Perrell had seen the back of the net twice and earned one assist. Two freshmen goalkeepers have split time in between the pipes for High Point, earning a combined 25 saves and 1.04 goals against average.
Head coach Marty Beall is in his sixth season at High Point, where he has compiled a record of 48-54-17.
