ROCK HILL, SC- The sixth seeded Winthrop women's soccer team will travel to No. 3 High Point on Sunday for the first round of the 2014 Big South Conference Tournament. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. Earlier this season, Winthrop hosted the Panthers and fell in double overtime 1-0.
Winthrop (8-8-1, 4-5-1 Big South) finished the regular season on a two game winning streak, defeating Radford and Presbyterian. The Lady Eagles led the conference in goals (39) and assists (34) led by All-Conference First Team selection
Krystyna Freda. Freda finished her final regular season with 16 goals and 36 points, falling in the top ten nationally in total goals and points. All-Freshman team forward
Zoe Conover tallied five assists in her first season with the Lady Eagles. Seniors

Amelia Henderson led a defense that held opponents to 31 goals for an average of 1.77 goals per game and two shutouts.
High Point (10-4-3, 7-2-1) is riding a five game winning streak, most recently defeating Campbell on the road to take the third place spot in the Big South. The Panthers have a combined 27 goals, led by Big South Conference Second Team member Jacky Kessler who has four goals and two assists. In goal, High Point has rotated between freshmen Alex Persiani and Jordan Beets who have only allowed 15 goals this year, second in the conference. The Panthers rank first in the conference in shots allowed with just 147 and second in shutouts with six.
The winner of this game will play the winner of No. 2 Coastal Carolina vs. No. 7 UNC Asheville next Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Bryan Park in Greensboro
