ROCK HILL, SC- After taking a one match break, the Winthrop women's soccer team returns to conference play as they travel to UNC Asheville to take on the Bulldogs on Wednesday evening at 5:00 p.m. at Greenwood Soccer Field.
Winthrop (4-6, 0-3 Big South) are looking to build momentum after defeating Francis Marion in a hard fought match on the road that ended with a goal from
Devin Puckett in the 107
th minute. Puckett is currently second on the team in goals (4) and points (9) behind
Krystyna Freda who is ranked fourth in the country in points per game (2.38) and tops the Big South conference in points (19), goals (8) and shots per game (6).
Caroline Duncan earned her third win in goal for the Lady Eagles on Saturday, coming in at half time for
Amelia Henderson and tallying four saves.
UNC Asheville (6-8-1, 1-2-1 Big South) is trying to snap a two game losing streak dropping two straight conference matchups to Liberty and Charleston Southern. Senior Amanda Dailor leads the Bulldogs with four goals and four assists with eight more of Asheville's 18 goals coming from freshman Caroline Houser and senior Paige Trent. Senior goalkeeper Heather Muller has started ten games for the Bulldogs, earning a goals against average of 1.59 and making 57 saves.
Head coach Michelle Demko is in her fifth season at Asheville where she has acquired an overall record of 22-64-4.
