The two teams have met 13 times, with Winthrop taking the overall series 6-5-2 as they defeated the Flames at home last year 3-1 in the regular season.
The Lady Eagles (6-7-1, 2-4-1 Big South) are battling to qualify for conference tournament, currently ranked 9
th out of 11 teams despite having one of the best scoring offenses in the country. Winthrop is ranked 19
th in the country in scoring offense, averaging 2.36 goals per game, while senior Krysytna Freda ranks 6
th in the country in total goals with 14 and 9
th in the country in total points with 31. Twelve different players have scored for the Lady Eagles, with
Devin Puckett and
Samantha Prytulak rounding out the top three with Freda.
Liberty (10-3-1, 6-0-1 Big South) have yet to lose a conference match and are riding a nine game unbeaten streak. The Lady Flames have four players with four goals, led by junior Brittany Aanderud who also has eight assists on the year. Liberty's defense will be a difficult test for the Lady Eagles, allowing just nine goals year and holding its opponents to 9.79 shots per game. Senior defender Maddie Boone and goalkeeper Holly Van Noord lead the conference in shutouts with eight, with Van Noord making 54 saves for a goals against average of .65.
Liberty's head coach is Jessica Hain, who is in her seventh season and has acquired an overall record of 66-53-16.
