Women's Soccer Looks to Continue Momentum into Conference Match Against Campbell

ROCK HILL, SC- The Winthrop women's soccer team look to continue its winning momentum as they head to Buies Creek, NC to take on Campbell in Big South action on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at Eakes Athletic Complex.

Despite getting off to a rocky conference start, Winthrop (6-6-1, 2-3-1 Big South) has gone 3-0-1 in its last four games, scoring eleven goals. Winthrop leads the conference in goals (31) and points (89), ranking 18th in the nation in scoring offense, led by senior Krystyna Freda who has 14 goals and 31 points. Seniors Ashley Herndon and Amelia Henderson have led the defense that has given up just 1.58 goals per game and three shutouts with Henderson making 49 saves on the year.

Campbell (5-6-3, 3-2-2 Big South) are currently third in the Big South conference, taking a 2-0 loss to Coastal Carolina this week. The Camels have only scored 19 goals this year, led by redshirt junior Ashley Clark who has six. Campbell's goalkeepers Samantha Lawson and Alexis Connors have held opponents to just 18 goals this year while making 78 saves.

This is head coach Stuart Horne's first season with the Fighting Camels.
