The Lady Eagles fall to 3-6 and 0-3 in Big South games while High Point improves to 4-2-3 and 1-0-1 in conference action.
Winthrop's defense stayed strong despite having to defend a strong Panthers' offense that outshot the Lady Eagles 21-6. Both teams battled to put a shot away but neither side could generate any strong opportunities and headed to overtime.

Devin Puckett had the best opportunity of the first overtime period, as she ran onto a flick from
Olivia Costello into the 18 yard box but her final hit was deflected by a Panthers' defender and was collected by goalkeeper Alex Persiani.
High Point finally got on the board just 55 seconds into the second overtime period off a free kick from 50 yards out. The Winthrop defense blocked a shot by Paige Rombach but it fell to Jenny Marshall who got just enough on it to flick it by goalkeeper
Amelia Henderson from six yards out.
The Lady Eagles will take a break from conference play as they head to Florence, SC to take on Francis Marion on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
