Eagle Lacrosse Closes Homestand Sunday Against St. Francis at 1 p.m.

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop lacrosse team will return to Eagle Field Sunday at 1 p.m. against the Red Flash of St. Francis University as the Eagles look to finish their three-game home stretch with a victory.

Winthrop is coming off a heartbreaking last-minute loss to St. Bonaventure last Sunday where the Bonnies netted the game-winning goal with 10 seconds left in the contest.

The Eagles are currently 2-2 on the season while the Red Flash are 1-1 with a loss at Duquense and a win over Binghamton.

Freshman Megan Wallenhorst leads the Eagles through four contests with 10 goals and five assists.  Wallenhorst has scored on 50 percent of her shots this season.  Fellow freshman Danielle Ellis is also tied for the team lead in points with 15 as she has tallied seven goals and eight assists.

St. Francis has been led by freshman Olivia Pittman who leads the team with seven goals and three assists.

Following Sunday's contest, the Eagles head back out onto the road.  Winthrop will travel to Denver, CO to face the University of Denver on Friday, March 8 and Fresno State in a neutral-site game on Sunday, March 10.
