	CONWAY, SC – The Winthrop volleyball team fell in five sets to Coastal Carolina Sunday afternoon after winning the first two sets over the Chanticleers.
	Winthrop fell to 13-12 overall and 4-7 in the Big South with the loss while Coastal improved to 15-10 overall and 8-3 in the conference with the victory.
	Senior Jackie Landers recorded her second consecutive double-double with 19 kills and 13 digs and finished with a .333 hitting percentage.  Rachel Lenz and Irene Ojukwu each added 15 kills.  Jessie Vicic notched a double-double with 52 assists and 13 digs while Maria Volstad led the team with 22 digs.
	The Eagles dominated the first two sets over the Chanticleers.  Winthrop used a 10-4 run early in the first set to turn a one-point edge into a seven-point advantage.  The Eagles cruised to a 25-15 victory in the first set.
	In the second set, Winthrop again used an early run to take over Coastal.  The Eagles trailed 7-6 and used an 8-3 run to grab a 14-10 lead.  The two teams traded points with neither able to take more than two in a row as the Eagles took the second set 25-19.
	Winthrop trailed early in the third set as Coastal looked to extend the match.  The Chanticleers led 10-6 before Winthrop went on a 6-0 run to take a 12-10 edge.  Coastal responded with a 6-1 run to regain a 16-13 lead.  The Eagles got back within one at 20-19 but Coastal closed the third set on a 5-1 run, taking the third 25-20.
	The Eagles came out very strong and looked to be in full control of the fourth set.  Winthrop jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but Coastal was able to slowly chip away at the Eagle lead.  The Chanticleers got within one at 16-15, but a quick 4-1 spurt gave the Eagles a four-point cushion.  Again Coastal came back and tied the set at 21-21.  Both teams had multiple set-point opportunities, but Coastal was able to eventually pull away for a 30-28 fourth-set victory.
	The early part of the fifth set was close, with Coastal holding a 5-4 edge.  The Chanticleers then went on a 9-0 run en route to a 15-5 victory.
	Winthrop will return home on Friday, November 8 at 7 p.m. as the Eagles host the Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb University.
