ROCK HILL, SC- The Winthrop women's soccer team will travel to Lexington, VA to take on Big South Conference opponent VMI Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. The Lady Eagles lead the all-time series 7-4-1 and haven't lost to the Keydets in the last five meetings.
Winthrop (6-2-1, 2-1 Big South) are coming off a hard fought battle on the road against High Point Wednesday night. Junior
Krystyna Freda added two goals to her resume, bringing her totals goals to 11 on the season and 41 in her career. She is currently tied for sixth in the conference in all-time career goals and is one game winning goal away from tying the conference record in career game winning goals (17). Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper
Amelia Henderson also had a big game for the Lady Eagles, making eight saves on the night and making some very good tactical play to hold onto the lead. Henderson has registered 52 saves on the year and 122 saves in just her second year with the starting spot for Winthrop. The Lady Eagles are currently ranked 4
th in the Big South Conference standings.
VMI (2-8, 0-3 Big South) will try to break a five game losing streak, most recently dropping a 3-0 decision at home against Longwood Wednesday night. The young team has no seniors on their roster and is led by freshman Kristen Whitehurst and sophomore Sydnie Bligh who each have two of the six goals for VMI. The Keydets also heavily on their young goalkeepers, sophomore Liz Nickerson and freshman Emily Marbury, who have split time in net and have combined to earn 52 saves this season and allowed 25 goals.

th season for VMI and has earned a overall record of 41-101-8 in his time in Lexington.
