Women's Soccer Takes on Defending Big South Regular Season Champions High Point on Wednesday Night

ROCK HILL, SC- The women's soccer team will hit the road to take on the reigning Big South Conference regular season champions High Point on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.  The last time these two teams met, Winthrop defeated High Point 1-0 in the 2012 Big South Conference Tournament semi-final, and the all time series is tied 4-4-3.

Winthrop (5-2-1) looks to bounce back from a 3-0 conference loss to Longwood Saturday afternoon. The Lady Eagles continue to dominate the nation in scoring offense, averaging 3.13 goals per game, with 10 different players tallying goals so far this season. Winthrop has also shown strong depth in its roster with 29 players registering minutes. Junior Krystyna Freda continues to lead the team and the nation in goals (9) and shots (50), averaging 1.1 goals per game. Junior Grace Radler leads the team with three assists including one  when she linked with Freda in the game winner against Davidson. Goalkeeper Amelia Henderson has registered 44 saves this season; including a career high nine saves against Longwood.

High Point (4-5) is currently ranked third in the conference, most recently defeating Gardner- Webb 1-0. Senior Taylor Parker and redshirt freshman Kelsey Perrell are tied with four goals and one assist for the Panthers. Taylor's goals have come in just 256 minutes, including the game winner against Gardner Webb.  Big South Conference Pre-Season Offensive Player of the Year runner up Becca Hemby leads the team in assists with three and shots with 28. Goalkeeper Jesse May has started eight of nine games for High Point, making 33 saves and earning a 2.46 goals against average.

Panther's head coach Marty Beall, the 2012 Big South Conference Coach of the Year, has the most conference wins of any High Point coach (24) and has posted an all time record of 40-47-13 in his five years with the Panthers.
