ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop men's tennis coach Andrew Stubbs has announced the addition of former Tennessee tennis standout Bryan Swartz to his coaching staff as a graduate assistant for the 2012-13 year.

“I am excited to have Bryan join our staff,” said Stubbs. “He has competed at the highest level of college tennis over the last four years and his experience at Tennessee will be a tremendous asset to our team. Bryan has the knowledge, skills, and character to help take our program to the next level.”
Swartz is a 2012 graduate of Tennessee. During his four years as a Vol, their team was consistently ranked in the nation's top 10 including a 2010 national championship appearance. Swartz played a key role in UT's 2010 and 2011 SEC Championships. During his collegiate career, Swartz accumulated wins over South Carolina, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, and Auburn among others. In 2011, Swartz won the singles and doubles championships at the Tennessee Fall Invitational. Prior to his time at the University of Tennessee, Swartz was a 5-star recruit out of Sarasota, FL

“Winthrop men's tennis is a very exciting program in my mind,” said Swartz. “Coach Stubbs has put into place a great foundation that I look forward to building upon with him and the players that are here. I believe that the mixture of Andrew and my tennis background will work well in taking this program to the next level in its development.”
