Sung Announces Three More Signings For 2012-13 Winthrop Lacrosse Season

Jennesa Staruch Is One Of Three Latest Lacrosse Signees
ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop women's lacrosse head coach John Sung has announced the signing of three more student-athletes from Indiana, Michigan and Ohio for the inaugural 2012-13 season.

The three signees include Carolyn Kraus, an attack/midfield player from Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, IN; Alexis Kroah, midfield, who played at Jackson H.S. in Massillon, OH and for the Midwestern Force Lacrosse Club; and Jenessa Staruch, midfield, from Brighton H.S. in Brighton, MI and a member of the Cyclones Lacrosse Club.

Krause was a five-year varsity letterwinner in high school and earned second team All-State honors.  She was selected Team MVP and Offensive MVP.  In addition to her lacrosse honors, she was also excelled in golf where she was a three-time state champion and four-year letterwinner

Kroah was a  two-year varsity letterwinner.

Staruch was a four- year letterwinner and earned first team All-Conference and All-Area and second team All-State as a freshman. As a sophomore she earned first team All-State as well as  first team All-Conference. As a junior she served as team captain and helped lead her team to the state championship.

Winthrop will play its first official lacrosse game at Howard University on Feb. 8, 2013, before making its home debut against Marquette on Feb. 15.  The complete schedule will be announced in the Fall.
