Final Results
MONTEREY BAY, CA--The Winthrop women's golf team shot 315 for the third straight day and finished in a tie for fourth place in the 12-team field with a 54-hole score of 945 at the Monterey Bay Invitational which was played on the Del Monte Golf Club course, one of the four courses at Pebble Beach.
Freshman
Jennifer Dilger had a solid tournament performance as she returned to her home state. The Palmdale, CA product tied for fourth in medal play as she turned in a score of 226 (78-71-77) to lead the Eagle women. She entered the final day in second place, but finished three shots behind tournament winner Chiara Ciitterio of Missouri State who was playing as an individual.
Wichita State came back in the final round to overtake Missouri State to win the team title with a total score of 927. MSU, which led for the first two rounds, shot 931 and finished third, one shot behind Columbia.
Winthrop senior
Kayla Cline (Socorro, NM) tied for 14th after shooting 234 (71-81-76). Freshman
Rachel Wyatt (Blythewood, SC) and senior
Katie Bolling (New Brighton, MN) tied for 34th place at 244. Sophomore Nicoie Mooberry (Norfolk, NE) shot 248 to finish in 49th place.
Three other Winthrop players participated as individuals. Sophomore
Allison Lee (Salisbury, NC) finished 52nd with a 249 total. Senior
Allison Itria (Lubbock, TX) tied for 59th after shooting 256, and freshman
Viivi Nuorti of Finland finished 66th with a 260.
