SOUTHPORT, NC--Winthrop freshman golfer
Jennifer Dilger finished second as the Lady Eagles tied for fifth place out of 12 teams in the 54-hole Spider Spring Break Invitational that was played over the weekend at The Reserve at St. James Plantation.
Dilger (Palmdale, CA) shot a 18-over score of 234 (78-77-79) to finish four shots behind tournament medalist Katia Joo from Boston College. It was Dilger's best collegiate finish. As a team, Winthrop shot 989 (335-326-328) to tie tournament host Richmond for fifth place. Boston College and Charleston Southern shared the team title as they finished at 963.

Kayla Cline (Socorro, NM) tied for 19th place with a 247 (85-80-82) while freshman
Rachel Wyatt (Blythewood, SC) tied for 32nd at 253 (97-86-80). Senior
Katie Bolling (New Brighton, MN) and sophomore
Allison Lee (Salisbury, NC) tied for 43rd place after shooting 261.
Winthrop will travel to Monterey Bay, CA next weekend to participate in the Del Monte Invitational which is being co-hosted by Drake and Missouri State out of the Missouri Valley Conference. The playing dates are March 18-20.
