Women’s Soccer Hosts East Tennessee State On Saturday Evening

Eagles Looking For First Win All-Time Against Buccaneers

The Winthrop women's soccer team will look to remain undefeated at home this season as it hosts the East Tennessee State Buccaneers on Saturday evening. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

The Eagles enter the contest with a 2-4 overall record, while the Buccaneers post a record of 4-2. East Tennessee State leads the all-time series over Winthrop 3-0, including a 1-0 mark when playing in Rock Hill. The Eagles dropped a 2-1 double-overtime decision on the road last season to East Tennessee State. The series began in 2003, with the other matchup coming during the 2004 campaign.

Courtney Durbin leads the Eagles offense with six points on the season on two goals and two assists. Ariel Kunde and Krystyna Freda are also tied with Durbin for the team-lead in goals, while Rachel Webster leads Winthrop with three assists. Grace Radler also has two assists, and Devin Puckett, Kelly Clark, Allie VandeWater, Lia Gorden and Tori Davis each have one goal. Goalkeeper Sarah Schippers has allowed eight goals on the year for a 1.52 GAA. She has also snagged 36 saves for a .818 save percentage.

The Buccaneers are led offensively by Jenna Caudle with eight points on four goals, while Genna Petersen and Molly Vaughn have three goals each. Five different players have two assists apiece, while Peterson has attempted 14 total shots on the season. Goalkeeper Caitlin Gaughan has given six goals on the year and a GAA of 0.97 to go with her 26 saves and .812 save percentage.

East Tennessee State is coached by Adam Sayers, who is in his first season with the program and as a head coach.
