ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop volleyball team will try to match its longest winning streak of the season when the Eagles host UNC Asheville on Friday at 7 p.m. and then look to avenge one of their two conference losses when they face Gardner-Webb on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Winthrop heads into the weekend riding a three-match win streak and has the best overall record in the Big South Conference at 16-7. However, they sit in second place behind Liberty with a 9-2 conference record. The Flames hold a one-game lead over the Eagles entering the final two weeks of the regular season.

Becca Toor leads the Eagles as she came away with her conference-record fifth Big South Player of the Week Award for her performance last weekend at Coastal Carolina and Charleston Southern. She combined for 25 kills and a .513 attacking percentage in those two matches. Toor now leads the conference in hitting percentage with a .359 hitting percentage and is second in kills with 3.25 per set. UNC Asheville comes into the weekend looking to improve its seeding for the upcoming Big South Conference tournament. The Bulldogs are 14-9 overall and 7-3 in the conference and currently riding a four-match winning streak. In their last meeting, the Eagles brought down Asheville in four sets in early October. The Bulldogs are led by Cindi Miller, who has posted 277 kills and 230 digs on the season.
Gardner-Webb is 9-16 on the season and 4-6 in the league as the Runnin' Bulldogs are currently tied for seventh place with High Point. GWU is tied for the most service aces with Coastal Carolina this season with 156. Laura Wilcox leads the Runnin' Bulldogs with a hitting percentage of .351, which is second in the conference behind Toor. Wilcox has 479 kills on the season. Defensively, Evan Moffitt leads the backline with 403 digs on the season.
