Women's Golf Team Closes Fall Season With 12th Place Finish In Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Winthrop women's golf team had its best score of the weekend as the Lady Eagles claimed 12th place out of 15 schools that competed in the 54-hole Lady Paladin Invitational that was held on the Furman University Golf Course.

After shooting back-to-back scores of 337 on Friday and Saturday, Winthrop cut 15 strokes off those performances in Sunday's final round to move up three spots in the standings in its final fall tournament with a tournament total of 996.

South Florida entered Sunday's play trailing East Tennessee by seven shots, but rallied to nip the Lady Buccaneers by just one shot to win the team title with a 933 total.  Two shots back at  935 in third place was Georgia State. Georgia State's Charlotte Lorentzen shot a final round 71 and finished with a 6-over par 222 to capture individual medalist honors.

Winthrop freshman Jennifer Dilger (Palmdale, CA) moved up 20 spots on Sunday to tie for 20th place as she shot 238 (82-82-74) to lead the Lady Eagles. Senior Kayla Cline (Socorro, NM) also moved up on the board Sunday as she went from a tie for 58th place to a final finish of 48th with a 249 (87-83-79). Senior Katie Bolling (New Brighton, MN) tied for 55th place at 251 (86-84-81). Allison Lee (Salisbury, NC) shot 258 (82-88-88) to tie for 67th place while freshman Viivi Nuorti (Helsinki, Finland) finish at No. 80 with a 283 (97-94-92).
