Lady Eagle Golfers Finish 11th At Blue Raider Invitational In Tennessee

Cline Posts Team-Best Tie For 35th Place

MURFREESBORO, TN--
The Winthrop women's golf team finished 11th out of 13 schools in the 54-hole Blue Raider Invitational which was held on the par 72, 6,203-yard Old Fort Course and concluded on Tuesday.

Winthrop shot a team score of 942 (312-318-312) to finish one shot back of 10th place Belmont and well back of tournament champion and host school Middle Tennessee State which shot 886 (300-293-293) and won the tournament by 14 shots over second place Lamar.  MiTSU was hosting its first-ever tournament at home. Winthrop entered the final round in 10th place, but slipped one notch.  Middle's Karisa Akin hung on to claim medalist honors as she finished with a 3-over par 219 to edge out ULM's (Louisiana Monroe) Ali Lucas by two shots.

Senior Kayla Cline (Socorro, NM) turned in the best performance for Winthrop as she tied for 35th place after shooting 234 (77-80-77).  Katie Bolling (New Brighton, MN), another senior, had a 236 (77-80-79) to tie for 39th place.  Freshman Jennifer Dilger (Palmdale, CA) turned in a 237 (78-82-77) and tied for 41st.  Next on the Winthrop scorecard was sophomore Allison Lee (Salisbury, NC) who tied for 48th with a 239 (80-80-79).  Helsinki, Finland freshman Viivi Nuorti shot 243 (80-78-85) to round out the Lady Eagle scoring.

The Lady Eagles will close out the fall season this weekend when they tee it up at the Paladin Invitational on the Furman University Course in Greenville, SC.
