ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop volleyball team looks to remain on top of the Big South Conference this weekend as it returns to the Winthrop Coliseum to take on co-leader Liberty on Friday evening at 7 p.m. and Radford on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m..
The Friday evening contest against Liberty is Dig For The Cure Night, while the matchup with Radford will be Dig For The Cure Day. Anyone who attends the games this weekend wearing Pink will be admitted free of charge. The Eagles will also be wearing special pink jerseys that will be available for auction during the matches. Proceeds from the jersey auction will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and Winthrop's Wellness Services will also be providing information about breast cancer awareness.
The Eagles enter the weekend with a 13-6 mark overall and a 6-1 conference record. The Eagles are also undefeated at the Coliseum, sporting a 5-0 record.
Winthrop currently leads the Big South Conference in hitting percentage with a .202 percentage. The Eagles also lead the conference with most kills per set with 12.26 and digs per set with 16.03. Senior

Catherine Brusie leads the defense as the she has posted 312 digs on the season.
Liberty sits on top of the conference along with Winthrop as the Flames are 11-11 on the season and 6-1 in the conference. Winthrop is currently 17-25 all-time against the Flames, including a loss in last season's conference tournament. LU is currently leading the conference in blocks per set with 2.5.Junior Loren Thomas is a key contributor to that statistic as she leads the conference in blocks per set with a 1.25 mark. Liberty's Lillie Happel is second in the Big South in kills per set, posting a 3.56 mark. Defensively, the Flames are led by Kelly Haseman as she leads the team with 271 digs on the season and averages 4.3 digs per set.
Radford enters the weekend with a 10-12 record and a 4-3 posting in the Big South. The Eagles hold a 27-26 record all-time against the Highlanders. Radford is currently on a two-match winning streak as the Highlanders brought down Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina last weekend. RU's Rachel Wiechecki leads the offense as she has 208 kills on the season. On the defensive side, Rachel Brummitt leads the team with 455 digs this year.
