The first set started with a quick 10-5 run by Winthrop, but Campbell stormed back, forcing a tie at the 10-10 mark. The Camels went on a run of their own, forcing the Eagles to regroup at the 16-11 mark. Winthrop made their run and forced another tie at 19-19. Three key kills by the Camels led Campbell to capture the first set, 25-23.

The third set started well for the Eagles once again as the first five points for Winthrop came via kills from Toor and Mullins. The Eagles cruised through the third set, winning 25-18.
The final set was in favor of the Camels throughout most of the set as they took a lead at the 22-19 mark. Winthrop charged its way back into the set as the Eagles got a kill from Toor and redshirt junior
Brittany Blackman that forced a tie at the 23-23 mark. An attacking error by the Camels and a service ace by DeBruhl gave the set and the match to the Eagles, 25-23.
“I thought Carly DeBurhl had a good effort and served tough to earn the win,” Torbett said. “I am happy for the team to believe they can come from behind to finish.”
The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 15 when they continue their conference road trip to High Point. That match is set for 4 p.m.
