ROCK HILL, SC— More than 1,250 college and university track and field athletes will converge on the Irwin Belk Track Complex this weekend for the 2010 ASICS Winthrop Invitational. A total of 22 men’s teams and 23 women’s squads are expected to compete in the event which is free to the public.
The action gets underway on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. when the first events of the Heptathlon and Decathlon are held. Action really gears up on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continues until 8:45 p.m. The final day of the meet begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and concludes with the completion of the 4x400 meter relays that start at 3:00 p.m.
“We are expecting a great weekend of outstanding performances,” said Winthrop head coach Ben Paxton. “I hope that our fans as well as track and field enthusiasts from around the area will come out and watch this event.”
