Lady Eagles Return Home To Take On Southern Wesleyan Tuesday Night

Lady Eagles Return Home To Take On Southern Wesleyan Tuesday Night

ROCK HILL, SC-- Winthrop is riding a two-game win streak after picking up two wins in Florida and earning Co-Champions Honors of the Hatter Classic.
The Lady Eagles return home, a place that has not been kind to the team so far this season. A year ago, Winthrop won 10 games at home for the second time in three seasons. The previous three seasons, Winthrop was 29-13 at the Winthrop Coliseum and so far this year the team is 1-4 and is being outscored 60.8 to 42.2.
Tonight the Lady Eagles will look to get back on track at home as they begin a stretch of six straight home games and nine of 11 at home. So the team will have to find a way to play better at home.
Freshman Dequesha McClanahan continued to play well away from home as she scored 17 points in both games at the Hatter Classic and All-Tournament Honors. She now leads the team with 11.2 points per game and is scoring 18.4 on the road while shooting 42 percent from the field and 42 percent from behind the arc.
At home, McClanahan is scoring just 4.0 points while she is 4-for-50 from the field in five home games.
Winthrop has to win tonight in order to have a shot at finishing 6-6 before it enters league play next weekend.

Southern Wesleyan enters the game having won two straight and sitting on a 7-2 overall record this season.
The Warriors haven't played since Dec. 14, when they won 98-57 at Knoxville College. It is a team that is averaging 75.6 points and allowing 60.6 points.
Junior Janaye Gillard leads four players in double-figures with 16 per game and is alos shooting nearly 50 percent from the field.
